Fiðlufjör will be held for the eighth time on June 5–7, 2026 in the flower town of Hveragerði.

This year’s festival will be even more diverse and presented in a refreshed format compared to previous years. The main goal, as always, is first and foremost to come together, play music, and enjoy ourselves.

Music Workshop with Vegar Vårdal:

Music Workshop with Sigrún Kristbjörg:

Brazilian music education is diverse and reflects the country’s rich cultural heritage. It combines European, African, and Indigenous influences, which are expressed in styles such as samba, bossa nova, and forró. Teaching often places strong emphasis on rhythm, movement, and interaction, allowing students not only to learn how to play or sing but also to experience music physically.

Chamber Music for the Advanced Groups:

Chamber music teaching in a violin-only ensemble focuses on developing musical independence, listening skills, and refined ensemble awareness. Without harmonic instruments, each violinist carries greater responsibility for intonation, balance, and musical direction. Students learn to shape phrases collaboratively, match articulation and tone color, and respond sensitively to one another’s musical ideas. Rehearsals often emphasize communication through eye contact and body language, encouraging a strong sense of leadership and shared interpretation. This type of ensemble also helps strengthen technical control and confidence, as every individual part is clearly exposed within the group texture.

Folk Dancing with Atli Freyr, folklorist and folk dancer:

Teaching folk dances plays an important role in preserving and passing on cultural heritage between generations. In this type of instruction, students learn not only dance steps and movements, but also the historical and cultural context of the dances. Emphasis is often placed on cooperation, rhythm, and body awareness, as folk dances are usually taught in groups and rely on interaction between participants. Instruction commonly takes place in both formal and informal settings, such as schools, dance associations, or workshops, and helps foster a greater understanding of cultural diversity.
